More About Acer rubrum 'Brandywine'

  • Crown matures to an oval, rounded form
  • Emerald-green leaves emerge in the spring
  • Foliage turns bright red to brilliant purple in the fall
  • Long-lasting show of fall colour
  • Slow-growing cultivar

Interesting Notes:

A cross of red maple cultivars ‘October Glory’ and ‘Autumn Flame’, the variant ‘Brandywine’, was released for its resistance to leafhoppers. It turns colour later in the fall than the popular 'October Glory'. Depending on the season and climatic conditions, it can have a long-lasting show of colour ranging from orange to red to brilliant purple.
