Alpine currant grows best in a fertile soil, in full sun to full shade. They tolerate various soil types and adverse urban conditions. Prune any time of the year.

Additional Notes about Alpine Currant:


Ribes alpinum is dioecious, having separate male and female plants. Most of the plants commercially available are male, which are more resistant to disease. Females of this species are an alternate host for white pine blister rust disease and should be removed.
