The Hollow Tine Aerator: This is a garden tool that reduces soil compaction of the grass by pulling up plugs of soil and allowing oxygen, water and nutrients to reach the roots of the grass. The soil cores will also fill low spots in the yard to smooth out minor unevenness. When you penetrate the soil and with the next penetration the cores of the former penetration will come out. The soil cores should be left on the grass because they help decompose grass clippings and thatch.
