An interesting specimen tree for the landscape with its colourful seeds in late summer to fall. Best growth occurs in areas with cool summer climates.
Acer tataricum 'Hot Wings' is distinguished from the species by the samaras (seeds) turning bright red much earlier in the season, and persisting well into the fall. However, the profuse seeds are viable, and could become a problem.
